Brandon and Katie: Married June 27, 2009

Posted on August 17, 2009

STEVENS POINT, Wis: June 27th was a big day for Brandon and Katie and a big day for me and AJ. Their wedding was the first on our schedule after AJ’s birth so June 27th was the first day mama and baby were all alone. We survived very well just the two of us but from what I hear I missed a great day with the happy couple.

Here are a few images that stood out to me as I was editing:

Such a classic moment, and a picture to keep around for this little guy’s wedding some day :)

Katie comes from a very talented family. How cool to be able to include your siblings in the ceremony.

And how cool for those siblings to have a few snacks for a job well done! I cracked up when I came across this little detail.

Such a perfect post ceremony moment. You can almost feel their joy as they stand in the receiving line thanking their guests.

I remember these two being ridiculously cute together during their engagement session. I can see that nothing changed between the engagement session and the wedding day. Equally as cute, just in fancier clothing.

Brandon and Katie, best of luck as you guys start your new lives together!

Enjoy your slideshow.

Your ordering gallery is here.

Enjoy married life!

Four Weddings and a Miracle

Posted on July 16, 2009

(Alternate Title: Why this blog has been quiet for the past six weeks)

Look! It’s a new blog post from us! I promise I’ve had good intentions to update the blog over the past several weeks but we’ve kind of had our hands full. Literally.

Allow me to introduce you to the “miracle” part of this blog entry:

Anderson James Homburg arrived one week before his due date on 6/11/09. It’s a good thing he came early since he already weighed 9lbs 2.8oz at birth! I’m sure I’m pretty biased, but I think A.J. is the best, sweetest, most amazing baby in the entire world. And I still feel this way at 3 in the morning when he doesn’t want to sleep and at 3 in the afternoon when I’m on my third shirt because he’s peed/pooped/spit up on the previous outfits.

June isn’t exactly the most ideal time of year for a pair of wedding photographers to have their first child, but we’ve been blessed with help from an amazing photographer to help us through this busy season. Heidi of HJ Selch Photography took my place in late May when my huge swollen ankles and even bigger baby belly made it nearly impossible to walk. While I really miss being there to shoot on the wedding day, I still get to be a part of the experience. You didn’t think those hundreds of images edit themselves did you?

So, without further ado, here is a quick peek at the four In This Moment Photography couples you’ll be seeing more of in the next few days as I attempt to get this blog up to date.

Stephanie and Chris tied the knot in Oshkosh on 5.30.09

Kris and Chris braved a wedding day rain out for some fun with our rainbow umbrella on 6.6.09

Brandon and Katie’s wedding in Stevens Point on 6.27.09 took Karl back to one of his favorite places to shoot, the grounds at Sentry Insurance.

And finally, Heidi and Steve will never look at Independence Day the same way after their beautiful wedding on 7.04.09

Each of these couples will have their own blog entry in the coming days, so check back often for more updates! And I’m sure we’ll squeeze in a few pictures of AJ along the way. Once he’s old enough, I’m sure he’ll run from the camera but for now he’s a willing model for us!

Whoops!

Posted on May 26, 2009

Don’t you just love technology? We sure do….except for when it doesn’t work.

If you’ve tried to access our ordering galleries, you already know that something isn’t quite right over there. We’re aware of the problem and we’re working to get it fixed with some help from our tech support folks. Things should be back up and running by the end of the week…just in time for me to post Carlene and Ryan’s wedding!

Thanks for bearing with us!

Happy New Year! We’re Outta Here!

Posted on January 10, 2009

Hello all and welcome to 2009! It’s hard to believe we’re already 10 days into the new year!

Karl and I are very excited for all the amazing things 2009 has in store for us and our clients. In the coming weeks we look forward to sharing with you our final wedding of 2008 (Congrats Lacey and Ben) as well as a year in review In This Moment style. We’re also excited to share some new things we have planned for the new year.

But before we can get to all of that, we have some important business to take care of: rest and relaxation. The In This Moment Photography office will be closed from January 10th through January 19th so your photographer friends can defrost somewhere warm. All calls and emails received during that time will be returned the week of January 20th.

We’ll see you all in a few days, with plenty of pictures to share!

Happy 30th Birthday Karl!!!

Posted on September 14, 2008

Karl taking a break during the Shoot With Beckstead Workshop in Minneapolis, May 2008

It’s a big day for the Homburg household. Today Karl turns 30, and for the next 8 months or so I get to point out that he’s so much OLDER than I am. I consider this fair play since just about every day when I take off my shoes he calls me shortie.

He may be getting some great presents for his birthday, but I am really the lucky one. I get to spend every day with the man I know God made just for me. We are fortunate enough to work together in a job that we’re both passionate about. And every weekend as we watch another couple say their vows, I say a silent prayer of thanksgiving that we found our way to eachother. We may have spent the first 25 years of our lives apart, but I’m counting on spending the next 60 or so together.

Love you babe! Happy 30th! Now let’s go eat steak!

Quick Scheduling Note

Posted on September 12, 2008

Just wanted to give a heads up to everyone that Karl and I will not be accessible by phone or email this weekend, as we will be in Chicago for a shoot. Unfortunately, it looks like The Windy City will also be The Rainy City this weekend. So if you could send some good weather vibes our way they would be greatly appreciated.

Emails, phone calls, and new client inquiries will be returned on Monday.

Have a great weekend!

It’s Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas…

Posted on September 3, 2008

I know, I know it’s only September. The kids are just now heading back to school and it was 90 degrees yesterday. But in the photography world, we have to think ahead. And right now, that means it’s time to think about Christmas cards.

We have some awesome designs to offer our clients this year. Here are just a few samples. I’ll be sharing more later this week!

And lest you think these cards are only suited for featuring cute babies…check out what we did with some of our awesome couples…

Believe it or not, I still have tons more samples to share, but I figured ten was enough for today. These cards are available as photo weight cards or as thicker press printed cards just like the greeting cards you buy at the store. And if you have us design a card, we’ll give you the digital file for the photo we used as our gift to you.

If you’re interested in scheduling a session for your Christmas card photo give us a call or drop an email. Our dates are filling up really fast and because of printing deadlines we’ll need to have these card sessions wrapped up by early November. If you’ve already had a session with us this year and would like to use one of those images I can have a few samples for you to choose from within about a week.

I’ll leave you with one last frightening fact…. 113 shopping days left!

Monday Moments: Brett and Julie Edition, with a Bridal Show Bonus

Posted on August 26, 2008

Wow, I’m really eeking this Monday Moments entry onto the blog in the very last moments of Monday night. I’ll confess, there were moments today when I didn’t think I’d be able to blog. My to do list is currently a mile long. That’s what happens when we have a wedding followed by a bridal show in the same weekend! This, my friends, is why we only commit to one couple a weekend. Karl and I like to “leave it all on the field” and that means by Sunday morning, we don’t have much more to give.

Even though I’m exhausted and my feet currently hate me, I am happy to be able to share some great moments from this weekend.

Looking at this shot of Julie and her dad makes me tear up. This was taken right as they first saw eachother and Julie was overcome by how handsome her dad looked in his tux. It’s possible I also teared up a little bit behind the lens. The two dads in my life live far away now and looking at this moment makes me wish they were both here so I could hug them. Boy I’m emotional when I’m sleep deprived! :)

Once again I have to share the “we’re married!” shot. Julie and Brett had a very thoughtful and beautiful ceremony surrounded by a ton of friends and family. It was a full house!

How cool is this cake?? It was a surprise for Brett and bears a pretty strong resemblance to his beloved orange Jeep.

And it even had a license plate and cans tied to the bumper!

I can’t resist sharing just one more picture from Saturday because this is a first for us…

It’s the first time a wedding guest has ever snapped a picture of Karl and I with our own camera! It’s also the first time a song was ever dedicated to us at the reception. It turns out we share the same first dance song as Julie’s sister Kelly…a tidbit I learned when both Kelly and I burst into tears when the song played before Julie’s ceremony. Yes, I am that much of a sap. Anyway, Julie had the dj play the song for us all to dance to, and Kelly asked to use our camera to take a picture! She did pretty awesome, right?

There’s so much more I could say about Julie and Brett’s wedding, but it’s time to share some bridal show images..

This was our booth, before we decided to move the black box to where the tree is in this picture. It was tough figuring out a way to work in all the images we wanted to share! We had a great spot for our booth, with some awesome neighbors! One one side of us we had Always and Forever. These girls know their chair covers and had some awesome candy at their booth. On the other side…cake samples from Artistic Cakes and Cookies in Kimberly. I didn’t taste any, but everyone was raving and the cakes on display were amazing! Our neighbor across the aisle was none other than Stacy and Tim from Lenz Studio. Gotta love the husband and wife teams, right?

Speaking of husbands….

Right after Karl took this stellar self portrait, he had to leave. His day job has him in Minneapolis this week so he needed the time at home to get ready. Thankfully, I had my good friend Barb along to keep me company. We really enjoyed meeting the brides and grooms who stopped by to chat.

I have a feeling I’ll be swamped all week as I try to catch up, but it really was a pretty awesome weekend!

Happy Monday all!
