Mr and Mrs Kurt Buckley: Married May 17th, 2008
Posted on May 31, 2008
After a windy and freezing spring engagement session, Greta and Kurt really deserved great weather on their wedding day. Unfortunately the forecast leading up to Saturday was pretty grim. We kept hoping the weather guys would change their tune, but when we got up to Door County that morning the skies were already looking pretty ominous.
Thankfully, the bad weather was short lived and by the time the ceremony was underway the storms had passed and left really cool clouds and bright blue skies in their wake.
There was no mistaking who the bride was when Greta and the girls arrived at the church. I loved this custom hoodie with her new last name and wedding date.
I was so excited to see the colorful bridesmaids dresses, almost as excited as these girls were to get the show on the road!
But not nearly as excited as these guys were to finally be MARRIED!
After the ceremony it was time to celebrate.
A horse and carriage was waiting to whisk the bride and groom off to their reception.
The Stone Harbor Resort was absolutely perfect for taking post ceremony pictures. Check out the amazing clouds!
Since rain kept the girls inside before the ceremony, we took some fun shots of the ladies afterwards.
While we were taking pictures, the guests were enjoying an outdoor cocktail hour and an authentic Door County Fish Boil.
So it’s been said on this blog before that I tend to tear up during father daughter dances. Well this wedding was a little different. It was the maid of honor’s toast that did me in. I think the line about “relinquishing the title of Greta’s best friend to Kurt” put me over the edge. And through my viewfinder I saw one of the bridesmaids crying too! Glad to know I was in good company.
The happy couple showed off some stellar skills during their first dance as husband and wife.
But the best man was clearly not going to be outdanced!
Greta and Kurt, thanks so much for including us in your special day. We’re so glad the weather cooperated for you to enjoy a perfect Door County wedding.

Mr and Mrs Terry Baker: Married May 10, 2008!
Posted on May 25, 2008
Spending the weekend with Samantha and Terry’s families kind of spoiled us. Let’s just say when both sides of the wedding party have ties to the military, things just seem to go off without a hitch! I don’t think we’ve ever worked with a group that was so punctual! Love it!

The girls had a good view of the arriving guests heading into the chapel at Heritage Hill.
The guys kept Terry inside the chapel so he wouldn’t see Samantha before the ceremony.
Married!
There were so many beautiful spots for pictures at Heritage Hill. Both inside and outside the chapel.
When our time was up at Heritage Hill, we headed to a nearby park for more time with the happy couple.
These personalized M&Ms and the story behind them was so cool! They say “Samantha and Terry” “Always and Forever” Fun, right?
Speaking of fun… there was lots of it at the reception!
Their future’s so bright they had to wear shades for the grand march.
And through their first dance.
I’ve probably mentioned this before, but I always cry at weddings. Not during the ceremony, or the couple’s first dance. It’s always the daddy daughter moments that get me.
Not much time for tears though.. there was too much dancing to watch!
Who knew the groom was a Vanilla Ice expert?
Sam and Terry, thanks so much for allowing us to be a part of your day! We wish you all the best as you start your new life together!
Check out your slideshow here, and your ordering gallery here.
Congrats!

Pamela and Eric: Engaged!
Posted on May 16, 2008
Karl and I spent Mother’s Day morning with Pamela and Eric. We had initially planned to shoot their engagement session a few weeks ago, but a dismal weather forecast forced us to change gears. And when we woke up Sunday morning, we were concerned the weather might once again mess with our plans.
But despite ominous clouds, the rain stayed away just long enough for us to get a few shots around Voyager Park in De Pere.

These two are so cute together, and since it was really windy they had an added excuse to get nice and close.

Karl has a thing for cool trees, and thankfully the ground wasn’t too wet to sit down.

The way Karl feels about trees… that’s me and big cool doors…

And it’s possible I also have a shoe fixation…

I love this shot because you can see the storm clouds in the distance.

And there’s a story behind this one… Eric claimed he had never seen anyone dip before! We decided he needed to practice before the wedding! Looks to me like he did a pretty good job.
Pamela and Eric, we had such a great time with you guys. Thanks for working us into your busy weekend! Since we’ve had weather issues on two occassions now, I’m predicting perfect weather for your wedding!

Peggy and Michael: Married May 3,2008!
Posted on May 15, 2008
We could not have asked for a better couple to kick off our 2008 wedding season than Peggy and Michael. Are you ready for the crazy things we have in common? They met on Eharmony. So did we! They were matched in August. So were we! They spent their entire dating relationship long distance. So did we! Their honeymoon consisted of moving across the country. Ours did too!
So it was clear to me right away that we were supposed to work together, and it was such an honor to share in their special day.

Peggy and her sisters have such an incredible relationship. We spent the morning together at the salon and there was so much laughing and storytelling.

And a little goofing around! The girls told me that they sound so much alike on the phone that sometimes they trick the men in their lives.

Peggy also has a really special relationship with her niece Rosa. As the only girl with lots of older brothers, Rosa really enjoyed being “pretty” for her Aunt Peggy’s wedding.

All the pretty girls gathered together right before the ceremony.

Then Peggy took a few minutes alone before the ceremony took place inside this theatre at her alma mater.

During the ceremony, I was able to position myself between the stage curtains to grab this perspective. Michael was staring at his bride through the whole ceremony and had no idea I was there!

But this guy spotted me right away! Ethan was the best behaved ring bearer I’ve ever encountered. He took his job very seriously!

I loved Peggy’s flowers. They were yet another element of the wedding that the bride’s family helped put together.

In fact, Peggy’s sister Charlotte’s family hosted a tent reception after the ceremony. Before the new couple was introduced for the first time, we took a few minutes to take some shots on the front porch.

But we weren’t alone. Ethan was keeping an eye on us!

Inside the tent you would have no idea that it had snowed earlier that morning!

Peggy shared an emotional dance with her dad. And as usual, I teared up. There’s something about that father daughter dance that gets me every time!

Once the slow dances were over, the guys were really cutting it up on the dance floor.

But we can’t leave the girls out. They were dancing queens!
Peggy and Michael, from one Eharmony success story to another, we wish you all the best in your new lives together in California. We are so happy to have met you and thankful for the kindness we were offered by your families.

Kristin and Ryan: Engaged!
Posted on May 13, 2008
We couldn’t have asked for better weather when we met up with Kristin and Ryan on Cinco de Mayo. In case I haven’t mentioned it a million times, Spring has been a little fickle here this year. We lucked out in that the sun was shining and the wind was absent. Which was a good thing, since Kristin has some amazing long hair!
Since we were downtown, we had to pay a visit to my favorite wall…
The campus of Lawrence University was teeming with people outside enjoying the afternoon, but we were able to find some quiet spots away from the sunseekers.
These two are so cute together!
I love this blue fence!
And we wrapped up the session down by the river, where Ryan showed he’s ready for the big dip on the wedding day…
And Kristin proved she could navigate the tracks in heels.
We had to bring out the umbrella, even without the rain!
Kristin and Ryan, thanks so much for meeting up with us! It was great to meet you both and we’re looking forward to spending more time with you guys on your wedding day.

Greta and Kurt: Engaged!
Posted on May 4, 2008
Greta and Kurt get the toughest couple award! We met up with them last weekend to shoot engagement photos ahead of their wedding next month. Since they were coming in from the Chicago area, rescheduling wasn’t an option when the weather turned nasty. Spring is very fickle here in Northeast Wisconsin, and last Saturday we woke up to snow flurries and bone chilling winds. Definitely not the ideal situation for a Spring engagement session.
But Kurt and Greta were real troopers. We met up at the Starbucks downtown, which we learned used to be a jewlery store where Greta’s dad bought her mom’s engagement ring! After a hot cup of coffee, we were ready to make our way outside.

Brr! You can almost feel the cold in this shot. The powerful winds forced us to seek shelter inside the City Center Plaza.

Ah, warmth! Much better! Greta and Kurt were great sports about running around the three level mall, even when we asked them to ride the escalator just for a photo op.

Or when I made them act like it was perfectly normal that someone would be taking pictures of them from two stories up.

As we wrapped up our session we made one last trip outside to visit our favorite little alcove downtown, which was thankfully out of the wind.

Greta and Kurt, thanks so much for making the trip up to Appleton! It was so great to get to know you guys. We can’t wait for your wedding in Door County in just a couple of weeks!
